This study examined an on-track indicator’s effectiveness with providing accurate information on whether 9th grade students will graduate from high school in four years. Longitudinal data were analyzed for students in five Texas districts. On-time graduation rates were higher for students who were on track at the end of grade 9 than for students who were off track.
