Truancy and Chronic Absence in Redwood City

This study from the John W. Gardner Center for Youth and Their Communities (JGC) examines truancy and chronic absenteeism in Redwood City, California. Using school district and county human services data, the study focuses on the extent of the problem of truancy and chronic absenteeism, as well as how this affects students. Authors report findings for students from kindergarten through high school. For high school-aged students, the study found that missing school had a small negative impact on grade point average.
