Trends in Chicago’s Schools Across Three Eras of Reform

Unpublished

This report, from the University of Chicago Consortium on Chicago School Research, discusses performance trends in Chicago’s schools across three eras of reform, spanning a 20 year time frame. The authors examine the effects of policy, leadership, and practices across this span, and point out how the findings differ from commonly held perceptions and publicly reported statistics. They also provide recommendations that include thinking more critically about public research findings and questioning expectations of speedy school reform.
