Students with Disabilities: Better Federal Coordination Could Lessen Challenges in the Transition from High School

This report provides information on transition services for students with disabilities as they moved toward postsecondary pathways. Four federal agencies, the Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, and Labor, and the Social Security Administration all provide transition services, but these efforts are not well-coordinated around a common goal. To improve transition services for students with disabilities, this report recommends the development of a common goal between the four agencies, and increased focus on promoting awareness of available services, and targeted assessment of the effectiveness of the coordination effort.
