An Experimental Study of the Project CRISS Reading Program on Grade 9 Reading Achievement in Rural High Schools

This study evaluated Project CRISS (Creating Independence through Student-Owned Strategies), a teacher professional development program that focuses on applying research-based learning principles and reading/writing strategies in major content and subject areas. The study compared students’ literacy outcomes in intervention and control rural high schools. The study did not find statistically significant differences between the intervention and control schools.
