Adolescent Risk Factors for Adult Alcohol Use and Abuse: Stability and Change of Predictive Value across Early and Middle Adulthood

Unpublished

This study examined risk factors for alcohol use, heavy drinking during early through middle adulthood, and symptoms of alcohol use disorders. A nationally representative sample of 21,137 high school seniors in 11 cohorts was tracked to middle adulthood. It was concluded that a number of predictor variables had associations with alcohol use over time, though time lags complicated the ability to explain variance in alcohol use.
