How School Counselors Can Support Postsecondary Readiness

Schools and districts are looking to provide more coherent school experiences that align with students’ postsecondary and career aspirations through initiatives such as personalized learning or individualized learning plans. However, many schools and districts lack the human capital necessary to support and guide implementation. With their advanced training addressing students’ postsecondary, career, social-emotional, and school safety goals, school counselors are well-positioned to provide the expertise and leadership for these postsecondary readiness efforts.

During this webinar, learn about state evaluation policies and how clearly defined school counselor expectations lead to improved school counseling practices and policies, ultimately providing more postsecondary support for students. Participants will hear from two states about their efforts to create coherent school counselor evaluation models and guidance. In addition, participants will hear from a state school counselor association director who will address the policy implications of comprehensive school counselor evaluation.
