On May 14, 2014, the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) hosted the Webinar “CTE and College, Career, and Civic Readiness: The Role of State Boards.” The objective was to ascertain and highlight the different roles state education boards play in guiding career and technical education (CTE). To achieve this objective, speakers with in-depth knowledge in these areas convened to share their experiences and practices.
This report provides projections of job demand as well as skill and educational requirements through the year 2018 for jobs that fall into each of the 16 technical education and career clusters. The report also includes wage data to help identify high-wage clusters and occupations.
This report provides a detailed overview of early college programs in the United States, and makes a compelling case for the expansion of such programs as a means for increasing graduation rates and postsecondary attainment, especially for students at risk. The authors review key features of early colleges and their relative impact over and above traditional high schools and on college readiness and success. The authors also outline Jobs for the Future's plans to expand the early college network by establishing partnerships with other nonprofits as well as districts, states, and the U.S.
